ABOUT US

I created The AO because I recognized a significant gap that individuals on the autism spectrum and with disabilities often fall through. This gap exists between the time they age out of school-based services and their search for meaningful connections, purpose, and support in adulthood.

Far too often, young people with unique needs are left without a space where they can truly belong. They face environments filled with judgment, pressure, and feelings of isolation. The AO aims to bridge this gap by providing a welcoming community that fosters authentic connections.

In our space, individuals can express themselves freely, find encouragement, and develop meaningful relationships. We believe everyone deserves to feel valued and understood. Together, we create an inclusive environment where members can thrive, share experiences, and build their futures with confidence and support. The AO is more than just a community; it’s a place where individuals on the autism spectrum and with disabilities can finally feel at home.

Meet Luke

The AO began after I started working with Luke. Luke has shown so much growth over the years. I got the pleasure to work with Luke because like many families, they need help. Help comes and goes but lasting relationships and finding people you trust comes around every so often.

“Luke was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at the age of 3 and is currently 24 years old. He is loved and adored by all that have the pleasure of knowing him.

However, there have been many obstacles for Luke and our family to navigate the world over the years due to his autism. Sensory overload has been a big challenge which has made venturing out in the community difficult at times. He preferred to stay close to home and was not very adventurous when it came to trying new things. Home was his safe space and where he felt most comfortable.

We are thrilled that over the past couple of years his world has opened up in ways that we could have only dreamed of thanks to his incredible support staff. With their encouragement, Luke now eagerly goes to workouts at the gym, takes long hikes, participates in grocery shopping and has even tried pickleball.

His support staff continues to introduce Luke to new activities encouraging him along the way. We could not be more grateful for these amazing individuals who work together to create these life changing opportunities for our son.”
